It was a 4-2 loss away against AIK in the last match of the year for Sirius, despite a 2-0 lead a bit into the first half.
– We were brave and started well. Then it got tough when they managed to reduce and then equalize just before the break. They came out in the second half and had a lot of energy, says Sirius forward Christian Kouakou after the final signal.
Kouakou scored Sirius’ 2-0 goal, and chose not to celebrate against his old club.
– It felt very obvious to me. I have received my football education here and it is the leaders of AIK who have made me who I am. I got my first A-team contract here and everything has been AIK.
– Everyone who knows me knows that I am AIK. There was not even talk that I would celebrate. I showed respect towards AIK.
Now the Uppsala team’s top scorer also admits that he is attracted by a return to AIK.
Do you ever want to return here?
– It would be a nice circle to stop. But I belong to Sirius right now. Then AIK is a nice club and this is where I grew up. So we’ll see.
Kouakou says there is nothing but a “friendly” contact between him and AIK. He has not heard anything about concrete discussions about a transition.
After twelve goals in this year’s Allsvenskan, the forward is unsure whether he will stay in Sirius until next year.
– Hard to say. It’s in Sirius hands too. I have two years left on the contract. But anything can happen in football. If there is an attractive offer, maybe Sirius accepts it and then the question is asked to me.
Kouakou, who in 2011 became AIK’s then youngest debutant in the Allsvenskan ever, says that he has heard from many black and yellow supporters that they want him to return to Gnaget.
– Yes, these are very nice messages I received during the year.
– It’s flattering. It gives an extra boost. That means I did something good. It is clear that it attracts. Then we’ll see.
During the interview with Kouakou, AIK’s outgoing CEO Björn Wesström comes forward and greets the player. Then he takes the opportunity to say the following about the Sirius forward:
– The best player I have seen in AIK’s boys’ school through history.
