Ukraine worried about possible Russian attack in late January / Article

According to the minister, the most likely time to reach readiness for escalation will be the end of January. He explained that there is a possibility of large-scale escalation on the part of Russia, and the Ukrainian intelligence services are analyzing all possible scenarios.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin said on Friday that work was under way to hold a video call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden.

Ukraine does not intend to provide Russia with any desired “guarantees” against Ukraine’s non-accession to NATO in order to ease border tensions. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitro Kuleba.

The comments came after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday called on his US counterpart Anthony Blinken to provide “security assurances” to prevent NATO from approaching Russia’s borders. Kuleba urged the United States and its allies to reject Moscow’s demands.
