Since its launch on Canal+, you follow and like the weekly episodes of the series Mrs. America ! But at the risk of disappointing you, the fiction carried (in particular) by Cate Blanchett ends this Monday, August 24. The encrypted channel will effectively broadcast and put online (on its myCANAL platform), the ninth and last episode of this limited series, focused on pro and anti ERA (Equal Rights Amendment – proposed amendment to the American Constitution, designed to guarantee equal rights between men and women-), in the 1970s in the United States. A question already arises then: will there be a sequel? Because Mrs. America is, as it was announced from the start, a mini-series … which is not a priori destined to know a season 2. But it was without counting on the hopes of Dahvi Waller, showrunner of the project …
Is a season 2 possible?
In an interview with the magazine Vanity Fair, in April 2020, the screenwriter and producer said: “I don’t think we would have been lucky enough to have this prestigious cast, if this project hadn’t been sold as a limited series. That’s the good thing about miniseries: you can have actors. well-known people who cannot commit to a five-year project “. Indeed, Mrs. America is worn by renowned actresses, generally more accustomed to Hollywood cinema than to fiction intended for television. This is the case with Rose Byrne, Cate Blanchett or Elizabeth Banks, seen respectively in the sagas X-Men, The Lord of the Rings and Hunger Games. But good news, Dahvi Waller does not close the door at all to one day giving new adventures to the heroines of his show: “We never know. Fargo was supposed to be a limited series, and now it’s in its fourth season. As long as there are stories to tell … “. Conclusion: if the schedule of the different actresses of Mrs. America allows it, and if the American channel FX (which distributes the series across the Atlantic) wishes, the series could well have a sequel. Fingers crossed!
The first season of Mrs. America can be found on Canal+.
