“The architecture of strategic stability is rapidly collapsing, NATO refuses to constructively consider our proposals to reduce tensions and prevent dangerous incidents. Instead, the alliance’s military infrastructure was brought closer to Russia’s borders. The nightmare scenario of military confrontation is back,” Lavrov said at the 28th OSCE Council of Ministers meeting.
Lavrov added Moscow would insist on developing an agreement that would exclude NATO advances to the east.

“In dialogue with the United States and its allies, we will insist on developing an agreement that will exclude further NATO advances to the east and the deployment of weapons systems that threaten us near Russian territory,” Lavrov said.

He revealed, “In the near future, we will submit the appropriate proposals, we expect their serious consideration at its core, unconditionally, and we think the OSCE can play a very useful role here.”

He added that Moscow firmly rejects the transformation of countries bordering Russia into military footholds.
