The reason is concerns about the former world doubles unit Shuai Pcheng. Her communication has fallen to a minimum following accusations of a top Chinese politician of sexual harassment.
The WTA planned to hold 11 events in China in 2021, but none of them took place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Given the current developments in the affair, we are concerned about what players and team members might face in China. We have doubts about the events in 2022 as well, “said WTA Chairman Steve Simon on Wednesday, according to AFP.
