Norway is introducing new measures and recommendations to combat the coronavirus, DPA reported. Citizens are advised to wear masks when using health and social services, on public transport and when shopping, if it is not possible to keep a greater distance, Prime Minister Jonas Gar Store said today.

From tomorrow, people living with a person infected with the virus will have to isolate themselves until they get a negative test result. This will be mandatory for all adult citizens, regardless of their vaccination status, and will be recommended for children, said Stere. Those infected with the virus must be quarantined for five days, BTA reported.

According to the prime minister, the pandemic is not over, but has entered a new stage. According to him, people need to get used to living with the virus and keep it under control. The new Omicron version creates uncertainty, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation, he said, urging all citizens to get vaccinated and to take boosters when offered.

Norway has been doing relatively well with the pandemic for a long time and lifted most restrictions at the end of September. In mid-November, the government reintroduced measures against the coronavirus due to an increase in infections.

According to the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the seven-day incidence in the country is about 480 cases per 100,000 people.
