Marius Bakke, head of communications at the Ministry of Culture, writes in an email to NTB that the government will also be represented during the Olympics in early February, but that it is still unclear in what way.
Trettebergstuen has decided to accept the invitation from the Norwegian Sports Confederation to travel to the Paralympics.
“When I choose to accept the invitation from NIF and visit the Paralympics, I see it as an opportunity to put the spotlight on a group of athletes who to a very high degree live up to the Olympic ideals,” writes Trettebergstuen in an email to NTB .
She promises to raise sensitive political issues with the Chinese government.
“When we travel to China, we will of course use the opportunity to take up the Norwegian authorities’ position regarding the human rights situation in China.”
