Delegations from Iran, China, Russia, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have gathered in Vienna for a new round of negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
The deal was to prevent Iran from making its own nuclear weapon. But since the US unilaterally withdrew in 2018, Iran is less and less adhering to the agreements in the treaty, such as lowering the uranium stock.
The Russian delegation speaks of a “fairly successful start” to the negotiations, which are taking place in Palais Coburg, the luxury hotel where the Iran agreement was signed in 2015.
The European Union, which is chairing the talks, and Iran have also expressed their optimism about the negotiations.
