The event will take place from November 30 to December 4 of 2021 in theaters and public spaces of Cali, Colombia.
The Circulation Platform presents 18 plays in exhibition and showcase format, including pre-launch and pre-festival launch.
The festival reaches its tenth version resisting the context that the cultural sector is going through and proposing dynamics that help to reactivate the circulation of local theater works.
The Compass to the South Festival, founded by the La Concha Theater, it is a scenic ecosystem that operates in Cali since 2013 and that is carried out every year in three-year cycles: Training, Creation and Circulation. The third phase of the three-year cycle, in which we find ourselves, is the Circulation Platform, which aims to ensure the sustainability of the project through the circulation of works throughout Colombia and the world.
In alliance with the Movement of Cultural and Creative Companies MEC we will carry out a performing arts market in which nine national and international invited programmers will be able to see a selection of local works with the purpose of reactivate the circulation in the programming of their cities and their countries.
The Movement of Cultural and Creative Companies, MEC 2021, which for its fifth version, is part of the Market Network project of the Secretariat of Economic Development of the Mayor’s Office of Cali, which this year will bring together different city processes such as the Musical Market of the Pacífico, the Pacific Design Festival, the Brújula al Sur Performing Arts Festival, among others.
The works that are part of our Brújula al Sur 2021 program are: “Story of a sheep”, “Essential trip”, “All I lose is always nothing”, “Post scriptum”, “Acts of flight”, “Temporary inhabitants”, “Communicating vessels”, “Absent”, “Mommy / I choose pink – caustic ”,“ The charm of the posthumous ”,“ The human scale ”,“ The marchioness of the working-class neighborhood ”,“ The palm grove ”, and a selection of works in showcase format:“ La Migra: a song to Ulysses contemporary “,” More than two “,” Dawn of the beetles “,” Do not forget me “and” Fakers “.
