At least four people have been killed by storms in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Nineteen people were injured, three of them seriously.
The storm was caused by a strong south-westerly wind known as lodos. The speed of the wind gusts rose to 130 kilometers per hour, they wreaked havoc in the metropolis.
According to local authorities, dozens of roofs have been blown off buildings. That resulted in dangerous situations. A woman and her child ended up under a detached roof section. The woman was killed and the child injured.
Nearly 200 trees have fallen due to the strong gusts of wind, as have 52 traffic lights and road signs, a spokesperson for the municipality writes on Twitter.
