Variety Edition reportedthat the authors of the series “Around the World in 80 Days” have already announced the second season of the project, despite the fact that the premiere of the first 10 episodes will take place only next year.
Moreover, they were so inspired by the collaboration on the literary heritage of the famous French writer Jules Verne that the same creative team is filming another adventure novel by the author called Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Showrunner of the second season Around the World in 80 Days and the first season of the new series will remain Ashley Faroa (Life on Mars), and the same Slim Film + Television and Federation Entertainment will be engaged in production. All three main characters of the first season are also expected to return to their roles – David Tennant (Phileas Fogg), Ibrahim Koma (Passepartout) and Leonie Benesh (Abigail Fortescue).
In turn, the cast for the new series Journey to the Center of the Earth has yet to be announced. The plot of this book tells the story of Professor Otto Liedenbrock, who, together with his nephew Axel and guide Hans, sets out to explore underground areas, descending through the crater of the volcano.
The production of this series starts after the filming of the second season of Around the World in 80 Days ends, so its premiere should be expected no earlier than 2023.
