The documentary film tells, through images filmed by Charlotte Gainsbourg herself, the relationship between the actress and her mother, Jane Birkin. She too has been an actress in films like The swimming pool (1969), I love you neither (1976) by Serge Gainsbourg… His daughter’s documentary also traces the various outstanding moments of the Gainsbourg family. They return to important places in their lives such as New York, the childhood home or the former residence of Serge Gainsbourg.
The audience was touched by this film and the emotion was intense in the cinema hall. “It’s a very beautiful film,” said a spectator to Charlotte Gainsbourg; another gave him a rose. The documentary Jane by Charlotte will be released on January 12, 2022 in theaters.
