Storms, torrential rains and strong winds are prevalent in western and northwestern Turkey today, local media reported.

The sea flooded the promenade and the roads close to the shore in Izmir, in the area of ​​Karshyaka, the state television TRT Haber reported. The rails of a nearby tram also remained under water. Municipal teams are trying to pump the spilled water into the sea.

Due to the storm in Izmir, the movement of ships was canceled. Meteorologists predict that the bad weather in the area will continue until tomorrow.

Istanbul has been under the influence of a strong wind since the morning, which in some parts of the metropolis reached a speed of 105 km / h. Mud rains fell in places in the county as well as in the neighboring Tekirdag county.

In Kocaeli, northwestern Turkey, a storm swept away the roofs of buildings. Planned ship courses in the Izmit Bay area have been canceled, according to Turkish private CNN-Turk.
