FEDERICO CORIA got his second Challenger tournament in the 2021 season, by prevailing today on the Spanish Jaume Munar 7-5 and 6-3 in the final of the Open of the Republic, played on brick dust in Brasilia.
Coria, top favorite of the tournament, met that condition and the $ 7,200 reserved for the title winner was credited, which added to the one achieved in Prostejov, Czech Republic, in the middle of the year.
FE, was crowned in the Brazilian capital after successively eliminating the Italian Luciano Darderi, the local Wilson Leite, his compatriots Juan Ignacio Lóndero and Francisco Cerúndolo, plus the Spanish Jaume in the last game.
In 2021, Argentine tennis players won 19 titles in the Challenger category, the one that follows in importance to the ATP. Sebastián Báez is the winner with six trophies: three in Chile (two in Santiago and one in Concepción); another in Zagreb, one in Buenos Aires; and the remainder in Campinas, Brazil.
