NASA astronomers have warned about the dangers of a giant asteroid heading toward Earth’s orbit. Even the size of the asteroid is said to be twice as large as the Big Ben tower in London, England.
The giant asteroid was named 1994 WR12. It was first discovered by American astronomer Carolyn S. Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory on November 28, 1994.
The forecasters if asteroid If it hits Earth, the force of the explosion is equal to 77 megatons of TNT. The power of the explosion was 1.5 times more powerful than the Tsar Bomba or the largest nuclear weapon ever tested.
Quoted from Mirror, asteroid 1994 WR12 will pass over a distance of 3.8 million miles from Earth on Monday (29/11). This distance allows the asteroid to enter a number of points in the Earth’s atmosphere.
Professor Alan Duffy as director of the Institute of Space Technology and Industry urges the public not to be curious and see firsthand phenomenon an asteroid passes over Earth. It is considered dangerous because the rays will be the same as the sun.
“That’s actually what caused so many injuries in Chelyabinsk (the meteor event in Russia in 2013), people unreasonably looking up at this huge ball of fire burning in the sky, which was basically the same brightness as the Sun at that time. eventually erupts, which causes a lot of retinal damage, so make sure you don’t see it properly,” said Alan.
