Meta, the new matrix of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, delayed plans to encrypt end-to-end messages on the most famous social platforms in the world, the messaging network will be the only one that maintains this security tool until 2023.

According to Antigone Davis, the company’s head of security, this measure would not be considered until 2023 because there have been many warnings to protect the safety of minors, so with the encryption with which they can only access the sender and recipient of a message, it would be impossible to detect the abusers.

“We are taking our time to get it right and we do not plan to finalize the global implementation of end-to-end encryption by default across all of our messaging services until sometime in 2023,” Davis announced.

In an interview, Mark Zuckerberg’s employee stated that Meta could identify abuses in its encryption plans by using unencrypted data, account information and reports from the users themselves.

“Our recent review of some historical cases showed that we would still have been able to provide critical information to authorities, even if those services had been end-to-end encrypted,” he added.

Meta already uses end-to-end encryption in its WhatsApp messaging service and plans to extend it to the Messenger and Instagram applications.

“As we roll out end-to-end encryption, we will use a combination of unencrypted data in our applications, account information, and user reports to keep them safe and secure in terms of privacy. All this, at the same time that we help public safety efforts, ”said the Meta worker.
