West Flanders opposes high-voltage line of 22 k… (Inland)

High voltage in Flemish fields. The plans for a new high-voltage line worth 500 million euros to transport the electricity from the offshore wind farms to the interior have generated broad and persistent popular resistance. Local residents want the pipes underground. Only, that is ten times more expensive and technically difficult. Just like with Oosterweel, an intendant was called in to untangle the knot, but that didn’t work out in time: he required three months more time. The question is whether this can avoid years of litigation.
