VALÈNCIA (EFE). As of next December 1, Spain will only allow the entry of people from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland with a vaccination certificate and not with negative diagnostic tests for covid or having overcome the disease as admitted until now.
This is stated in a general provision of the Ministry of the Interior that modifies the criteria for the application of the temporary restriction of non-essential trips from third countries to the European Union and Schengen associated countries for reasons of public order and public health due to the health crisis and that the Official State Gazette (BOE) has published this Saturday.
The resolution removes Namibia from the list of third countries, special administrative regions and other territorial entities and authorities whose residents are exempt from these restrictions “in view of the fact that it is among the countries with respect to which the Member States consider appropriate to increase precautions” .
The list of countries that are not affected by these restrictions is made up of Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Emirates United Arab Emirates, Uruguay and China, in addition to the regions of Hong Kong and Macao and Taiwan.
“The appearance of new variants of the causative agent of the disease at this time forces to increase travel restrictions”, argues the department directed by Fernando Grande-Marlaska in the order in which it suppresses negative diagnostic tests or recovery as valid documents to access Spain to people from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
In this way, Spain may deny entry to travelers from these countries who are not “provided with a vaccination certificate that the Ministry of Health recognizes for this purpose, after verification by the health authorities, as well as accompanying minors to whom the Ministry of Health extends the effects “.
The general provision of the Home Affairs order, which has been modified several times since it came into force in July of last year, “will take effect” until 24:00 hours on December 31, 2021, except for the exclusion of Namibia from the list of third countries, which is in force as of today.
