After three years defending the MLS Orlando City colors, Nani will leave this institution to undertake new soccer challenges. The Portuguese winger announced his departure through social networks and specified that it was the club that decided not to extend his contract. Nani also took the opportunity to thank the Orlando fans for all the support they gave him and his family from day 1.
“All good things come to an end. After three incredible seasons, full of great moments, new friendships and sporting successes, I will be leaving the city of Orlando. Orlando is a city I can call home, with fantastic people and fantastic fans, but my contract has ended and the club made the decision not to extend it. It was an honor to captain the club in their first playoff appearances and reach the final of the MLS Is Back tournament. I will never forget how the fans and the community supported me and my family from the moment we arrived in Florida. They will have in me a friend and a fan for the future. I wish you the best”, Nani expressed in a statement that she shared on her official Twitter account.
In three seasons with Orlando City, Luis Nani left a mark of 31 goals and 18 assists between regular season matches, playoffs, the MLS Is Back tournament and the US Open Cup. During this period, the outstanding Portuguese player could not lift a championship with Orlando City.
