As of Sunday, November 28, Bulgarian citizens, persons with permanent, long-term or long-term residence status in Bulgaria and their family members returning from the Republic of Mozambique, the Republic of Botswana, the Republic of South Africa, Lesotho, Esvatini, the Republic of Namibia and the Republic of Zimbabwe will be subject to a mandatory 10-day quarantine.
Upon entering the country, they are also subject to mandatory testing with an antigen test.
Persons must submit by e-mail to the regional health inspectorate, which has placed them under quarantine, a document with the result of a PCR test conducted from the 10th to the 12th day of entry into the country, regardless of the result.
This envisages an order of the Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov, issued today, the Ministry of Health announced.
A new variant of the coronavirus has been discovered in the Republic of South Africa, and scientists are concerned about its rapid spread among young people. It has already been confirmed in Belgium that the first case of a carrier of the new strain of the virus has been detected there.
From Wednesday, 1 December, citizens arriving from the red zone who do not present a valid EU digital COVID certificate for vaccination, illness, PCR test or similar document are placed under a 10-day quarantine, which does not may be revoked, the order further provides.
Persons arriving from the green or orange zone who do not present one of the documents specified in the order are also placed under a 10-day quarantine. Quarantine may be lifted if the person undergoes a PCR or antigen test, but not earlier than 72 hours of arrival in the country. In case of a negative result of the conducted research, the quarantine shall be considered terminated from the day following the registration of the result in the National Information System for Combating COVID-19.
