Michael Almebäck’s time in Örebro SK is starting to suffer towards the end. Last week, ÖSK confirmed that the faithful servant will be forced to leave the club after the season, as Almebäck is not offered a new contract. Mittbacken will thus stay for a total of nine seasons in ÖSK, which is already ready for relegation to the Superettan.
In an interview with Nerikes Allehanda, the 33-year-old now tells for the first time about his feelings after the break-up.
– It is sad considering that it has been a pee year, but you have to try to remember what has been good. I have many good memories, even though it went awry this year, says Almebäck to NA.
He, who has made 215 Allsvenskan matches for ÖSK, would have liked to stay.
– I am passionate about ÖSK and it is my club in Sweden, so if I had received an offer I would have definitely considered it. But I got nothing to say, so it was not even a question.
Furthermore, Almebäck talks about how the team’s performance on the football field has affected privacy in a negative way for several of ÖSK’s players.
– This year has been tougher for us on the pitch than many people think. It has been many times you have come home and the tears have broken and you have felt that it was piss. It has affected your whole life situation and then I’m probably not just talking about myself, but it’s probably so for several in the team. It means extremely much to us and it’s sad that we could not solve it for everyone around us and for ourselves as well.
For ÖSK, there are now two matches left, away against Mjällby and at home against Elfsborg, before the Allsvenskan sojourn is over for this time.
