Lower Ham. The future aquatic center takes height

The community aquatic center, a project carried out jointly by the Portes de France-Thionville agglomeration community and the Arc Mosellan community of municipalities, located on the Basse-Ham leisure center, took height. A site visit organized on Thursday 25 November provided a better understanding of the volumes of what constitutes one of the flagship leisure facilities in the north of the Moselle region. Deliberately focused on fun and well-being, to stand out from the more sporty Thionville swimming pool, the future space will consist of three pools of the same surface: a 25-meter sports pool with four swimming lanes, an outdoor pool with two swimming lanes, equipped with balneotherapy areas with benches and massage nozzles, and a fun pool equipped with two swimming lanes reserved for learning, an activity area with counter-current swimming, as well as benches and massaging jets. The depth varies from 70 to 140 cm.

Opening scheduled for early 2023

This will be completed with slides, a pool for toddlers, and indoor and outdoor water games. Upstairs, offering a panoramic view of the Nordic area, equipment such as sauna, hammam, sensory showers and spa constitute the well-being bubble. The aquatic center, if it is intended primarily for families, will also welcome schoolchildren every morning, with four classes per time slot. Dedicated equipment and separate changing rooms will be made available to schools, which will also benefit from their own access to the pools. While the shell part is finished, the work will continue until next fall, so that the first tests are carried out at the end of the year. The opening to the public is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
