Purification of wastewater from the Freiburg region costs many millions – Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district

The wastewater association Breisgauer Bucht wants to make a lot of investments in the coming years and is looking for a new managing director. The sewage charges for citizens are likely to rise.

The annual surcharges that the Breisgauer Bucht waste water association (AZV) collects from its member municipalities have been almost constant at around 15 million euros for a quarter of a century. By 2040, however, they could rise to around 33 million euros, predicts Managing Director Bernd Hnting at the association meeting in the Denzlinger Kultur- und Bürgerhaus. As a result, the costs of wastewater will also increase for citizens in the coming years. The reason is large investments that are planned.
