The UNSS departmental championships bringing together middle and high school students from public establishments brought together, on Wednesday, at the Chartres racecourse, nearly 800 cross-country enthusiasts.
The health situation had forced Nicolas Bouttier, departmental director, to limit participation (usually 1,200) by establishing qualifications within the six districts of the department and by putting in place very strict rules: wearing a mask outside of the races and access to the racetrack is closed to the public.
On the sporting side, the different establishments have shared the titles. Only the Jehan-de-Beauce high schools in Chartres (cadets and young girls) and Rémi-Belleau in Nogent-le-Rotrou (junior boys and high schools for teams) have won two. This event was qualifying for the academic championships which will take place on December 8 in Bourges (Cher) in conditions, race against time by establishment, which could well put off some.
