Clear thing in the derby: Even with a weak replacement, Frisch Auf Göppingen deserves the points in a weak HBW Balingen-Weilstetten with 30:26. A Goeppinger recommended himself for a new contract.

Balingen – Bundesliga handball team Fresh on Göppingen put away the 26:38 home slap from last Sunday against master THW Kiel: Even without the sick Daniel Rebmann and Sebastian Heymann, the team of coach Hartmut Mayerhoffer confidently took the hurdle at HBW Balingen-Weilstetten and won in front of 1,091 spectators in the Sparkassenarena 30:26 (16:13). “I have to give the team great respect to deliver such a performance under these conditions,” said Mayerhoffer after the well-deserved success in the Württemberg derby.

Tobias Ellebaek made a particularly strong performance in the attack. The Heymann substitute presented himself as agile, lively, dynamic and strong – the backcourt player scored six goals, although he was out for weeks because of a broken thumb before the Kiel game. Only left winger Marcel Schiller (8/4) got more hits than the Dane, who even threw away two seven meters. “Tobi Ellebaek played a really great game,” said Mayerhoffer, who praised the 29-year-old, who also advertised himself: his contract expires at the end of the season.

Balingen had its best phase when the 10:16 deficit could be reduced to 15:16. But afterwards the team of trainer Jens Bürkle again made too many simple mistakes, which the clever Frisch-Auf-Team took advantage of without any major personnel alternatives – with a few exceptions. The chance to further expand the 15:11 point account is offered in the next home game: On December 4th (4 p.m.) HC Erlangen will come to the EWS-Arena.
