Festival Prose readings 2021 The manifesto states: “Literature has many languages - literally and figuratively. The text can be translated into another language, turned into a screenplay, a drawing. It can be quoted on a commercial or in a speech by a politician. However, the text itself tends to “sprout” from another genre – photography, theater performances or compositions. In this sense, the literary process is multilingual, a tree with a deep and broad root system influenced by classics, other genres, and an equally broad crown in which other genres nest. ”
Festival Prose readings has been taking place since 1995 and has become a lasting and long-awaited event in the Latvian literary landscape, and within it it is possible to see and hear the freshest, most current, which is currently being created and has recently become in Latvian literature. Since 2016, the festival has been organized by the Latvian Writers’ Union.
