Göttinger and accomplices in court

A 48-year-old man from Göttingen with a significant criminal record will soon have to answer again in court with two former prison cronies. In contrast to previous criminal proceedings, this time the trial will not take place in Göttingen, but at the Darmstadt Regional Court.

The prosecutor in Darmstadt has charged the 48-year-old and his two alleged accomplices with serious robbery. According to a spokesman, the trio is said to have carried out an armed attack on a woman in Bensheim, Hesse, in October 2019 and stolen more than 42,000 euros from a safe.

Both the Göttinger and the two alleged accomplices – a 55-year-old from Fallingbostel and a 68-year-old from Hanover – have already made the acquaintance of the Göttingen judiciary. In April of this year, the Göttingen regional court sentenced the 48-year-old’s two former prison buddies to long imprisonment and subsequent preventive detention for similar robbery offenses.

At the end of the process, which lasted more than seven months, the chamber saw it as proven that the two men had attacked and robbed a woman in the Göttingen district of Hetjershausen in her villa in January 2020. The 54-year-old also attacked and tried to rob the wife of an entrepreneur in Rosdorf (Göttingen district) in November 2017. The judges attested that two defendants, who had been in prison for many years, had a tendency to commit serious crimes.

Acquaintances from prison

During the attack in Hetjershausen, the police suspected that the 48-year-old former bouncer from Göttingen might have had a hand in the game. A witness had seen that one of the later convicted defendants got out of a car near the scene of the crime, which the investigators assigned to the 48-year-old. On top of that, it turned out that there had been various telephone contacts between the two defendants and the 48-year-old. All three men knew each other from prison. Only the 68-year-old and the 55-year-old were charged and convicted in the case, while the case against the 48-year-old was dropped.

Just like his alleged accomplices, the 48-year-old from Göttingen has many criminal records. In 2011 the local district court sentenced him to several years imprisonment for serious robbery and illicit drug trafficking. After he had been at large for a while, the investigators arrested him again that early summer in Nörten-Hardenberg (Northeim district). This time there was an arrest warrant against him for the armed robbery in Bensheim in Hesse.
