Austin (Texas/USA) – It was a terrifying sight: there is a small one in the middle of an empty parking lot female dog. She is all alone and has nothing but a little bed with her, which protects her from the cold asphalt of the street.

At the beginning of the month, an emergency call was received at an animal welfare center in the US state of Texas: A passer-by had discovered the four-legged friend and was horrified to look for help.
The facility staff did not hesitate long and drove off to see the situation for themselves.
When they arrived on site, they could hardly believe their eyes.

The bitch, who has been called Bluebelle since then, sat quietly and patiently on her bed – as if she was waiting to be picked up – and watched the events around her with sad eyes.
When she finally noticed the people slowly approaching her, she straightened up.
“You could see how grateful Bluebelle was to finally be rescued and brought to the shelter,” said Stephanie McCutcheon, Austin Animal Center staff member, told American magazine The Dodo.
There she drank her tummy full and then made herself comfortable in a new bed, where she did nothing for the next few days but sleep.
It seemed as if she had immediately felt comfortable and well protected in the presence of her rescuers.

The bitch, who is estimated to be around nine years old, has been well cared for since then and for the time being does not have to worry about being left alone.
Although the bitch suffers from mites and is currently being treated for conjunctivitis in both eyes – the fighter cannot be beaten down.
“Aside from all the health problems, she’s in a very good mood,” said McCutcheon.

“She has the cutest little smile and even a little swing in her crotch. We have wonderful zookeepers and vets who take great care of her.”
In the meantime she has even found a foster family with whom she will move in within the next few days. From there on, everyone will search for a home forever.
And until that day, Bluebelle is just overjoyed to have a roof over her head and a dry place to sleep.
