Bart De Pauw was sentenced on Thursday to a six-month suspended prison sentence in the Mechelen court, in one of the first major #MeToo trials in Belgium. Christine Mussche, who acted for the bourgeois parties, responded with satisfaction to the verdict. “We will first study the verdict carefully,” it sounded after the verdict was passed. “We are, of course, pleased that Mr. De Pauw’s behavior was recognized as punishable.”
