The aim of the song competition “Supernova” is to find a brilliant artist and a bright piece of popular music that could represent Latvia in the grand Eurovision Song Contest (semi-finals will take place on May 10 and 12, final – on May 14).
“We hope that musicians, authors, performers have songs – interesting musical stories to apply!” says Anna Platpīre, content editor of the Latvian Television Programs Department.
Both debutants and already experienced artists – performers, authors and producers who have reached the age of 16 – are invited to participate in the competition. Applications from soloists, duets and groups (up to six participants) are welcome. The regulations stipulate that foreign citizens may participate in the competition as producers of the phonogram of a song. The submitted song must not have been published or played in public before September 1, 2021.
The entry of songs and performers in “Supernova 2022” television broadcasts will be determined by a jury selected by LTV. LTV also reserves the right to invite performers and authors to participate in the competition.
The jury will evaluate the song’s structure – originality, arrangement, message, compliance with today’s market trends, as well as the song and contestant’s ability and potential to compete in the international pop music market, the performer’s vocal skills, personality and past achievements in the industry.
Until December 7, at 11:59 p.m., songs will be announced on the “Supernova 2022” website https://supernova.lsm.lv/lv/, where it is also possible to get acquainted with the full competition regulations.
We will announce the next round in December this year. Viewers will once again be amazed by the supernova television shows of the competition “Supernova” – they are expected on Latvian Television in February 2022.
The international competition gathers millions of viewers around the world every year on TV screens. Latvia will participate in the competition for the twenty-second time.
