The operations center in the West police district reports on Wednesday night a traffic accident in the Finnsås tunnel on Fv. 53 in Årdal.
A car must have driven into the tunnel wall and the naudetata are on their way to the city.
The police first report that the accident must have happened in the tunnel opening towards Vikadalen. This will later be the right to be on the Lærdal side of the tunnel.
There’s one person in the car. The extent of the damage is unknown, but the police describe the incident as a serious accident.
Police, fire brigade and ambulance personnel will now be present in the city. The driver was stuck in the car and it was working to get him loose. He is now out of the car, and is drawn into an ambulance.
At 21.26, it was announced by Vegtrafikksentralen Vest that the tunnel is now closed as a result of the accident. The road is currently closed, and a detour via the E16 was recommended.
