The woman’s daughter had found her mother in her Brooklyn home and then notified the police. Shabazz was one of six daughters of Malcolm X. Her twin sister Malaak died shortly after her father’s death in 1965.

Malcolm X was spokesman for the Nation of Islam. He was murdered on February 21, 1965 when he was just starting a speech in New York.

Last week, a New York judge exonerated two African Americans convicted of the murder more than 50 years ago. The two had always maintained their innocence.
