Samsung plans to build a semiconductor plant in Texas in the coming years, sources close to the company said. The Koreans have not yet confirmed the information, but according to people familiar with the matter, this will happen very soon, after the US authorities give the last building permit.
The plant in Texas will provide about 1,800 jobs, and production should begin in 2024.
The company is one of the largest importers of semiconductors in the United States, and the opening of such a plant will reduce logistics costs. Samsung plans to invest more than 15 billion euros to launch the project.
