Innogy will raise electricity and gas prices from January

From January next year, households will pay 15 percent more per year for gas supplies in the basic Standard product. Electricity with the most common distribution rate D02d will then increase by 19 percent.

The monthly payment in a typical family house will thus increase by 270 crowns for gas and by 190 crowns for electricity. A customer who only cooks on gas will pay 40 crowns more per month, the company said.

Innogy justifies the increase by the dramatic rise in energy prices on wholesale markets. “Throughout this year, we have kept prices stable for households, despite the fact that prices on the wholesale markets for both commodities have multiplied. Innogy customers benefit from our responsible purchasing strategy, which allows us to mitigate the effects of dramatic fluctuations in wholesale markets. Thanks to this, payments for basic Standard products will increase by only 15 percent for gas and 19 percent for electricity, “said Tomáš Varcop, head of the Innogy Group.

However, nothing will change for clients who have a price fixed in the contract, the company assured.

“90 percent of customers use the security of long-term fixed products for electricity; over 60 percent of households have a fixed price for natural gas supplies. The current adjustments to the basic price lists also do not apply to customers in the DPI mode, nor to those who have already left DPI and concluded new contracts with us in recent weeks, “added David Konvalina, director of the innogy group for retail and marketing.
