The police have arrived on the scene, confirms police station chief in Larvik, Tor Eriksen.

It must have been an outsider who observed the plane crash and who reported it to the police, Eriksen says.

– We received a message from an outsider that it was a plane that was about to take off. It has taken some time for emergency services to locate the place.

He informs that they have crew near the plane, but that they can not say anything more about the condition of people who were on board.

Police are in the process of verifying how many people were on board and where the plane came from.

Old E18 is closed as a result of the accident.

– We can confirm that it is a small aircraft that has gone down, and it is located from a rescue helicopter from Rygge, says on-duty rescue leader in the Main Rescue Center, Trond Bjørnøy.

The emergency services are in the relevant area.

Bjørnøy says that the small plane must have gone down on the south side of the E18 between Langangen and Larvik.
