Russia’s gas concern Gazprom has told Moldova it will suspend natural gas supplies within 48 hours if it does not receive payment due today, November 22, world news agencies reported.
Moldova and Russia signed a new gas agreement after the previous agreement expired in September. Moldova has said it will pay about $ 450 per 1,000 cubic meters for Russian gas in November, falling to about $ 400 in December from $ 250 under the previous contract.
When the new contract was signed, Moldova was expected to make 100 percent of its current gas payments, the group’s spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told NTV.
