UPPER AUSTRIA / VIENNA. The Ministry of Sports has extended the financial aid of the NPO fund for sports clubs up to and including the first quarter of 2022. Sports state councilor Markus Achleitner welcomes this decision very much: “So far, oö. Sports clubs already EUR 21.4 million from the federal NPO fund. ”
There are 2,500 sports clubs in Upper Austria. The fourth lockdown will hit them too: Popular sport will come to a standstill again from Monday, while top sport will continue, but the fans have to stay away. “It is extremely gratifying that the Ministry of Sports reacted quickly and – as I requested on Friday – extended the financial aid in the form of the NPO fund,” explains Markus Achleitner, State Minister for Economic Affairs and Sports.
So far, 21.4 million euros have been distributed to the sports clubs in Upper Austria via the NPO Fund. Now – shortly before the fourth lockdown – the Ministry of Sports has announced that there will be renewed support for non-profit associations via the NPO fund. “This fund, set up for sports, cultural associations, etc., will be extended up to and including the 1st quarter of 2022. A further 125 million euros are already in the pot nationwide. The sports league fund is also available nationwide with a further 30 million euros up to and including the first quarter of 2022. The extension of the organizer protection umbrella – application deadline until June 30th, 2022 for events until June 30th, 2023 – rounds off the support package ”, emphasizes the State Minister for Economic Affairs and Sports, Markus Achleitner.

“Our sports clubs with their thousands of voluntary helpers are an important pillar of our society and will continue to be so after the crisis when it comes to keeping young and old on the move. Our clubs are also an essential factor for our health system, ”said Provincial Councilor Achleitner.
