JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Former chairman of the MUI Advisory Council (Wantim) Din Syamsuddin said he was ready to take to the streets if anyone dared to dissolve the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
“Know, if there are parties, whoever they are, who dare to dissolve MUI then they will face Muslims throughout the country,” said Din Syamsuddin as quoted from Antara, Monday (22/11/2021).
“As someone who once held the trust as the General Chairman of MUI and the Head of the MUI Consideration Council, I am ready to go down to the field.”
Din argues that the emergence of hashtags on social media so that MUI is dissolved along with the arrest of the MUI Fatwa Commission Ahmad Zain does not need to be taken seriously.
However, if the desire for MUI to be disbanded is strong for this reason, it means that it can be strongly suspected that someone is behind the scenes.
“The insistence may be genuine, so it shows that it is anti-Islam/Islamophobic groups who feel they have support,” he said.
