MediaTek Introduces Pentonic 2000, Next Generation 8K 120Hz TV Brain

Not only lifting the curtain to introduce the Dimensity 9000, MediaTek also officially announced the arrival of the latest Pentonic smart TV chipset family with the introduction of the Pentonic 2000. This chipset builds on MediaTek’s innovative technologies in terms of display, audio, AI, broadcasting and connectivity.

MediaTek also boasts that the Pentonic 2000 is the world’s first commercial TV chipset built using TSMC’s N7 (7nm class) process. Because of this, MediaTek also promises that its new TV chipset is capable of taking performance and efficiency to the next level.

Another attraction, this chipset not only supports 8K 120Hz screens, but can even support 144Hz gaming PCs and the latest generation of consoles. Support for MEMC is also embedded, paired with the MediaTek APU which intelligently elevates resolution content to the best display in real-time.

Furthermore, MediaTek also confirmed that the Pentonic 2000 has support for MediaTek Intelligent View technology. Thanks to the presence of this technology allows the TV screen to display picture-in-picture (PiP) or picture-by-picture (PbP).

MediaTek claims that the Pentonic 2000 has the fastest CPU and GPU in the TV industry, driven by an ultra-wide memory bus and ultra-fast UFS 3.1 storage. This chipset can be paired with MediaTek WiFi 6E or even a 5G cellular modem to provide the fastest wireless internet connectivity for streaming 8K content.

The MediaTek Pentonic 2000 is also the first commercial 8K TV chipset with H.266 Versatile Video Coding (VVC) support, offering increased compression efficiency. It is equipped with support for the latest Dolby imaging and audio technologies to provide a true cinematic experience through Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Yes! The MediaTek Pentonic 2000 chipset is predicted by MediaTek to be the “brains” of the next generation of flagship 8K TVs. So, when can we see the chipset in a device? It is estimated that 8K TVs with support for the Pentonic 2000 chipset will be present globally next year.
