A BOLA – Athletico Paranaense player dedicates trophy to António Oliveira (Brazil)

Athletico Paranaense won the second South American Cup in its history, a record shared with Argentines Boca Juniors and Independiente, by beating Bragantino by 1-0, at Estádio Centenário, in Montevideo.

The triumph was achieved thanks to a goal by Nikão, in the 28th minute.

“I dedicate the trophy and the goal to the fans who made the effort to come here and to my family, but also to António Oliveira, who started this process and is an extraordinary guy. This victory is also his», said Nikão.

In fact, the victory, in a 100% Brazilian final, had a Portuguese accent, as António Oliveira guided Athletico in 10 of the 13 games, before resigning in September and being replaced, on an interim basis, by the duo Bruno Lazaroni and Paulo Autuori in the semi-finals and definitely by Alberto Valentim in the final.
