Emergency mode declared in western Canada due to powerful floods

Canadian rescuers continue to search for another person who is missing.

In the Canadian province of British Columbia, an emergency regime has been introduced due to powerful floods caused by downpours. As a result of the disaster, three people were killed, one more is reported missing. On Saturday, November 20, reports Reuters.

Provincial governor John Horgan suggested that the death toll could rise.

It is known that heavy rainfall hit the region over the weekend, and in 24 hours the amount of precipitation in the province reached a monthly level. In some areas, they exceeded record levels three times.

The incoming water flooded roads and communities, many of which were cut off from other cities with no electricity. The landslides caused by the downpours destroyed homes and infrastructure and blocked railways. At the same time, the air temperature in some areas dropped below zero.

Weather forecasters predict bad weather will hit northern British Columbia again on Sunday and bring heavy rains.
