Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (President Jokowi) expressed frustration over the complicated investment procedures that investors would go through before doing business in Indonesia, especially in SOEs. Jokowi admits that sometimes he wants to be angry with the complicated bureaucracy that hinders investment into Indonesia.
“I see actually the investment that wants to go to Pertamina, to PLN, this is in line and a lot. But the complexity, the complexity is in our bureaucracy and also in our own SOEs,” said Jokowi, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Saturday (20/11/2021).
Jokowi stated this when giving directions to the commissioners and directors of Pertamina and PLN on November 16 through a video, which was uploaded to the Setpres YouTube on Saturday (20/11) today.
Jokowi admitted that he knew the conditions on the ground which, according to him, could facilitate the investment climate. However, the investment bureaucratic process was convoluted, which made him a bit annoyed.
“I sometimes want to be angry about something that I know but why is it so difficult to do, something that is easy, but why is it difficult to do, why not go for a walk,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi asked that investment procedures be improved to make it easier for investors to enter Indonesia.
“These positions must continue to be improved with the professionalism that you have, ladies and gentlemen,” he added.
Furthermore, Jokowi reminded, as a state-owned company, companies can indeed make their own decisions regarding investment. However, Jokowi reminded the country’s ideals to achieve investment goals.
“So your investment decisions may be made by companies, but the government also has a big strategy to bring this country to a goal that we aspire to together, a big plan that the country also has, that’s the importance between professionalism and the state, the interests of the company and the country as well. go hand in hand,” he said.
Jokowi said that investment opportunities in PLN and Pertamina are actually very wide if the two companies are open and open their doors wide.
“Openness is what I want, what I want with the Job Creation Law. I will give Pertamina an example, for example, for years that Rosneft has wanted to invest. understand“But Rosneft wants it fast, but we don’t want it fast, this is a very large investment of IDR 168 trillion, but the realization is only about 5.8,” Jokowi said with a sigh.
Furthermore, Jokowi also asked Pertamina and PLN to maintain professionalism in every assignment given. He requested that all parties carry out calculations in a transparent, calculated and open manner.
