They investigate a possible hate crime in the Tenerife city of Puerto de la Cruz | Radio Club Tenerife

The Local Police of Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), has begun the investigation of a possible hate crime that occurred in the tourist city. This Wednesday, some photographs that make up the exhibition dedicated to the migrants ‘Roots’ were completely destroyed.

The work consists of 22 photographs that were exhibited in the church square of the tourist town within the Periplo festival. Made by photojournalists, Lúz Sosa Contreras and Paula Fernández Hernández, they represented close-ups of the faces of people who arrived in a boat during 2020 and who were interned in the Las Raíces camps.

This morning all the photos appeared cracked, possibly with a razor or knife at the height of the neck. Mayor Marco González has lamented the fact that he considers a xenophobic attack. The consistory has announced the call for a concentration as a sign of rejection for this afternoon at five.
