Max Verstappen improved his fastest lap time in the closing seconds of qualifying at the Losail International Circuit. The Dutchman did this while waving a double yellow flag on the straight. These flags were there because Pierre Gasly had a flat tire and was driving slowly down the straight.
Verstappen must report to the stewards on Sunday at 13:00 local time (11:00 Dutch time). If they believe that the Red Bull driver has broken the rules, a grid penalty will follow.
The moment a double yellow flag is waved, a driver has to step off the gas. Verstappen did not do this.
