The demonstration against the corona measures that would take place on Dam Square this afternoon has been canceled by the organization of WWD Netherlands. The demonstration against the corona measures would start at 2 p.m. on Dam Square. The 2G measure, closing time for catering and the mouth mask obligation would be discussed. The organization expected around 10,000 participants. Hilda Slofstra is the organizer of the demonstration on behalf of World Wilde Demonstration Netherlands. After the riots in Rotterdam last night, according to Slofstra, there is too much anger and rage.
“Our demonstration was also dominated by World Children’s Day, it doesn’t feel right at the moment. The safety of protesters comes first.” The municipality confirms the cancellation of the demonstration.
Co-organizer Michel Reijinga does not agree with the decision that has been made. “There will still be a lot of people coming to Amsterdam this afternoon.” Reijinga is co-organizer of the Netherlands in Resistance action group. Slofstra also expects that the message will not reach all demonstrators. “From WWD we will be on Dam Square this afternoon to ask everyone who does come to go back home.”
