Liputan6.com, Tangerang – A total of 200 residents of Class IIA Tangerang prisons, were screened for HIV/AIDS by the City Health Office Tangerang, Friday (11/19/2021). This activity aims to track and screen people with HIV / AIDS (PLWHA) because the symptoms can not be known if the examination is not carried out.
“So, this screening must be carried out massively so that it can be seen who are PLWHA and which are not. Because the early symptoms of AIDS are often not visible physically,” said the Person in Charge of the HIV/AIDS Program at the Health Office’s PIMS, Farida Helmy when met at the Class IIA prison in Tangerang, Friday (11/19/21).
According to him, the condition of AIDS patients is the same as that of healthy ones, but their immunity has dropped drastically. Therefore, inspection must be carried out so that it can be detected early.
Helmy also explained that there are categories of people who are obliged to check themselves to see whether they have been exposed to HIV or not. Such as people with TB, STI patients, transgender people, injection drug users, male sex men (MSM), female sex workers (FSW) and pregnant women.
“For pregnant women, they are required to carry out an examination called triple elimination. So, check HIV/ADIS, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B at once,” he explained.
Actually, the screening is available in all Puskesmas in Tangerang City. In addition, the general public is also advised to do an HIV test as well.
