They plan to spend six billion hryvnia on the program. Its potential impact on the economy will be 0.1-0.2%.
The payment of one thousand hryvnia to vaccinated Ukrainians will not have a significant impact on the overall inflation rate. About this in a blitz interview Forbes Ukraine said the deputy head of the National Bank Sergei Nikolaychuk.
“A thousand hryvnia is not the amount that could significantly stimulate consumer demand. In addition, the industries for which the government will allocate these funds suffer from underutilization. It is unlikely that additional demand will lead to a significant increase in prices. Even if prices in the field of culture and sports will grow by 5-10%, this will insignificantly affect the overall inflation rate, since the share of these services in the consumer basket is insignificant, “Nikolaychuk said.
The central bank estimates the impact of the UAH 6 billion program at 0.1-0.2% of GDP during the year.
“However, if the project leads to additional vaccination of even 10% of the population, it can be considered very effective, because the economy benefits much more from the absence of lockdowns than from a direct fiscal stimulus from the state,” the NBU representative added.
We will remind, one thousand hryvnia for vaccination of Ukrainians promised President Vladimir Zelensky.
