The group “DivDiv” has released the single “Red Carpet”, for which a video has also been made. The new handwriting includes musical references to the 1990s and plays on the theme of Latvia’s “chaos”, but it can also be used to hear the symbolic issues of 2021.
The origins of the DivDiv group can be traced back to 2015. The main creative activity of its members takes place in other bands in both classical and popular music, as well as in the fields of the domestic music industry. Thus, different worlds meet in the band’s music, resulting in an unusual and even slightly unique sound. Dainis Melņiks, Justs Markuševskis, Roberts Dinters, Mārtiņš Zālīte, Ēriks Hanzovskis and Jānis Straume call themselves full members of DivDiv.
“The new song was inspired by the depressingly unusual situation from the time of the pandemic, making us remember the” chaos times “in Latvia in the 1990s as well,” says the band’s guitarist Dainis. “Accordingly, there was a feeling of rock music from the nineties, which we dressed in a sound more suitable for today and ourselves, and a video whose aesthetics will be well known to former owners of VHS tape recorders…”
Video artists Mikus Austers and Karina Stefanisina from M27 media, as well as Victoria Cornhuber, who thought about the look of DivDiv, Irita Timbra, who has the red carpet, and Jurģis Ozols, who created it all, created the clip. The recording was made in the concert hall “Lielais Dzintars” in Liepaja in October this year.
The group’s fourth single “Red Carpet” can be heard on the largest music streaming platforms and heard on the best Latvian radio stations.
