The shooting happened as a result of a gang conflict, according to the court.
The incident took place in the Biskopsgården district of Gothenburg late in the evening of 30 June. Policeman Andreas Danman was shot and killed from around ten meters away.
However, the district court believes that it is not certain that the boy understood that the killed man was in the police.
The 17-year-old has always denied criminal guilt. He was arrested as a result of pictures on surveillance cameras, and finds of clothes and weapons that could be linked to him.
Several people saw or heard the shots.
The day after the murder, clothes, a bandage and an electric scooter were found in a forest area about 700 meters from the scene. A firearm was also found which turned out to be the murder weapon. The clothes matched the testimonies of the perpetrator, and DNA from the 17-year-old was found on both the clothes and the bandage.
According to the district court, the 17-year-old actually had plans to kill three young men in a rival gang.
He was convicted of attempted murder against these three. He must also pay about half a million Swedish kroner in compensation to the policeman’s survivor.
