France 20 thousand Corona cases a day, Macron: No need for lockdown!

Paris

President French, Emmanuel Macron, emphasized that his country did not need to follow other European countries that implemented a lockdown corona virus (COVID-19). Macron made this statement after France, which was hit by the fifth wave of Corona, recorded more than 20,000 cases in a day.

As reported by Reuters on Friday (11/19/2021), Macron in an interview with a local newspaper, The voice of the North, which was published on Thursday (18/11) local time, stated that the health clearance had been successful in limiting the spread of Corona in France.

Europe has again become the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, prompting several countries including Germany and Austria to reimpose restrictions ahead of the Christmas holidays and sparking debate over whether vaccines alone are sufficient to ward off coronavirus.

French authorities reported 20,294 cases of Corona throughout Wednesday (17/11) local time. The figure was recorded as the highest daily additional cases since August 25. The total number of Corona cases in the country has reached 7.33 million cases.

The COVID-19 incident rate in France — the number of new cases per week per 100,000 people — rose further to 129, but it remains well below neighboring Germany, the UK and Belgium where the figures are several times higher. .

“Countries that have imposed a lockdown on people who were not vaccinated against Corona are countries that have not imposed a (health) permit. Therefore, this step is not necessary in France,” Macron stressed.

In France, proof of vaccination or a negative Corona test result is required to enter restaurants, cafes and cinemas, as well as when taking long-distance trains, among other public activities.
